Lisa has an MSW degree from Grand Valley State University. She has spent her career working in the areas of substance abuse, family ministry and youth mentoring. For the past six years Lisa has focused on helping to provide shelter, housing supportive services, and permanent housing to families experiencing homelessness. During this time, she has helped to develop a housing stabilization program, launched and built a strategic collaboration with a local rescue mission to create additional family shelter space. She has also helped to develop an innovative housing program that provides home ownership for families. She is strategic in her understanding of the immediate need for safe shelter, balanced with the goal of long term housing stability so children don’t continue to experience the Toxic Stress effects of prolonged homelessness.
