Lorena McDowell is one of two Vice Presidents of Programs for Northern Virginia family Service. In this role, Lorena works closely with agency leadership to develop and implement the agency's strategic plan as well as with Department Directors to ensure that community needs are met through successful program outcomes.
As a Community Consultant and Advocate, Lorena has spent more than a decade working throughout the U.S. in the Public, Private and Nonprofit sectors.
Prior to coming to NVFS, she worked with the Atlanta Mayor’s Office on Homelessness, as Deputy Director of the Atlanta Continuum of Care. There, working in together with the City’s Service Providers, Lorena was responsible for designing and developing the Continuum, maintaining a 7 million dollar HUD portfolio and consulting on 25 million in City-managed community funding.
