Deiko Taylor: a lover of arts, music, and anything beautiful, is a peer Outreach Specialist at the Salvation Army’s Young Adult Resource Center (YARC). Being a young adult who has shared experience, he mixes lived experience with the tools he learned at Livingstone College, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. With the guidance of strong mentors from The Salvation Army, Deiko has sat on several panels in Houston, campaigning for the recognition of youth homelessness, and the importance of peer support in ending youth homelessness. Examples of his current advocacy work includes, but not limited to: sitting on the CoC Steering Committee for Houston, being a member of the National Alliance to End Homelessness Consumer Advisory Board, and working on creating his very own Young Adult Advisory Board for Houston service providers.
